Phil Slabaugh, Captain & Boatbuilder

Phil has spent his entire adult life on and around the waters of Alaska. His experience at sea includes more than 1,200 days as a skipper on a purse seiner and more than 300 days on pleasure crafts throughout Alaskan waters.

As the founder and president of Sunland Construction Company LLC, Phil has a long and varied project portfolio that includes building a salmon hatchery, a salmon cannery, a shellfish processing facility, remote village medical clinics, a courthouse, hockey rink, fire stations – the list goes on!

Phil’s dual-track career – on the water and the construction site – has naturally led to him building boats. Most notably, he has built a 32’ gillnetter, 53’purse seiner, and 78’ charter vessel.

“After traveling the oceans of the world, I am convinced Alaska has some of the finest wildlife, fishing, and land that this planet has to offer. I want to invite you onboard to experience Alaska from the sea. My goal is to help you build memories with your family and friends that will last a lifetime.” –Phil
